Denny Vågerö is a professor of medical sociology at Centre for Health Equity Studies, Stockholm university.
Denny´s research presently focuses on two themes: firstly, health inequalities in modern societies and in particular their intergenerational and early life determinants; secondly on the public health development in Eastern Europe, especially Russia, and the health gap between East and West Europe. He has worked at the universities in Stockholm and Umeå, at the Karolinska Institute, at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, at the Universities in London and Bath and at Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin. He is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Denny Vågerö was a commissioner in the WHO Commission on Social Determinants of Health during 2005-2008. He is the proud father of four children.
