Wesley M. Jarrell

Professor Emeritus of Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Wesley M. Jarrell is Professor Emeritus of Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. After growing up on a small farm in Oregon, he received his undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from Stanford University in 1970, and his MS (1974) and Ph.D. (1977) in Soil Science from Oregon State University. After his Ph.D. program he joined University of California–Riverside as faculty in Soil and Environmental Sciences.

In 2008 Wesley M. Jarrell helped establish the Environmental Change Institute at UIUC, which seeks to enhance research, teaching, and public awareness to develop solutions for global change problems across the UIUC campus and throughout the region and nation. He and his wife Leslie Cooperband also established Prairie Fruits Farm and Creamery in 2003, producing farmstead goat cheese and goat milk gelato, sheep milk cheese with milk from a nearby Amish farm, and organic fruit and vegetables near Urbana, IL.
