Leading the bio-, micro- and nanofluidics research at the KTH Microsystem Technology Lab
Wouter van der Wijngaart was born in Belgium in 1973. Wouter is currently leading the bio-, micro- and nanofluidics research at the KTH Microsystem Technology Lab (www.ee.kth.se/mst), with a research focus on both lab-on-chip diagnostic systems and microsystems for energy and pneumatic applications. He received the M. Sc. degree in Electrotechnical Engineering, the Degree of Philosophic Academy and the Mathematics Education Degree, all from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, in 1996. Wouter received the Ph. D. degree in microsystem technology at KTH in 2002, where in 2005 he promoted to Associate Professor and in 2010 to full Professor.
Wouter is co-founder of the companies Easypark, which is currently world leader in the field of mobile parking payments, MyFuelCell, developing and selling micro fuel cells for mobile applications, and Mercene Labs, developing and selling novel polymer systems for labs-on-chip.
