Michael Long is Professor of Second Language Acquisition at the University of Maryland. His research interests include maturational constraints and sensitive periods for language acquisition, language aptitude, negative feedback, cognitive processes in foreign and second language learning, and Task-Based Language Teaching. In 2009, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Stockholm University
