Challenges and possibilities for the society of tomorrow

As a result of extreme urbanization in the 20th century, half of the world’s population now lives in cities. About a century and a half from now, that will be true for 98% of humanity. Cities all round the world stand before enormous challenges on how to handle demography for the future built for the past. The challenge lies also in the very act of planning; is it even a good thing to try plan too much ahead since planning for one scenario closes out other ones?
