Between 1991 and 1995 he was a research associate at the Division of Optimization and Systems Theory, where in 1995 he was appointed docent.

Anders Forsgren is since 2003 professor in Optimization and Systems Theory. Nonlinear programming is his main research interest and he is also teaching courses in applied linear and nonlinear optimization. Anders Forsgren has published, and republished, more than 30 papers and reports.

Together with the PhD students Rasmus Bokrantz and Albin Fredriksson has Anders Forsgren developed improved radiation therapy of cancer where the aim is, as far as possible, to hit the tumor and spare thesurrounding tissue and be as efficient as possible.
