“No just and prosperous future for humanity in a degraded environment”

1 December, 2014

Marco Lambertini, Director General of WWF International and guest in Crosstalks on Global biodiversity, is talking about the future of our planet.

“We have to focus on learning how to live sustainably within the boundaries of our planet. Right now we are not. We are consuming more resources than the planet can offer. We are cutting trees faster than it can reproduce, and we are fishing fish faster than it can be produced and pumping carbon dioxide into the atmosphere faster than the natural system can absorb. This is where we should focus on, and it is not just because it is nice, it is because we must do that. There will be no just and prosperous future for humanity in a degraded environment.”
