Terrence Brown

Terrence E. Brown is a writer, researcher, consultant, entrepreneur and lecturer on creating value.
He is the Head of the Business Development and Entrepreneurship Division at the School of Industrial
Engineering and Management at KTH, and Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
His research area is value creation through the formation, management, rapid growth and
rejuvenation of business enterprises. Currently his main research interests are:

- Business model innovation
- Opportunity development process
- Open and user driven innovation
- Translating theory into action techniques for managers and entrepreneurs

Terrence became Docent in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at KTH in 2002, and holds a PhD in
Entrepreneurship and Corporate Strategy from Rutgers University (1996). In 1997, Dr. Brown
received the National Federation of Business Dissertation Award. This award, given by the
Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management, recognizes the best dissertation in the field.

He also holds an MBA from Rutgers in Organizational Management and International Business (1994)
as well as a second MBA from The Wharton School in Entrepreneurial Management and Speculative
Markets. He also holds an AB (honours) from Brown University, where he triple-majored in
Economics, Political Science and Organizational Behaviour (1984). Brown is also the former Dean of
the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of the international,
double-blind, peer-reviewed journal, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Venturing (IJEV).
Terrence is also a member of several editorial boards.
