Danica Kragic

Professor of Computer Science and Vice-Dean at the School of Computer Science and Communication at KTH - Royal Institute of Technology.

Danica Kragic is a Professor of Computer Science and Vice-Dean at the School of Computer Science and Communication at KTH – Royal Institute of Technology. She is also aDirector for the Centre for Autonomous Systems and head of the Computer Vision and ActivePerception Lab.

In 2007, she received the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Early Academic CareerAward and Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research Future Research Leaders Award in2008. She is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Aciences and Young Academy ofSweden. She has chaired the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Technical ActivityBoard for Computer and Robot Vision and is currently a member of the IEEE RASConference Editorial Board. She is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of MaxPlanck Institute for Intelligent Systems.

Danica’s research is in the area of robotics where she studies vision systems and vision basedcontrol; human-robot interaction and collaboration, as well as object grasping andmanipulation. She is a PI for several projects financed by the Swedish Research Council andSwedish Foundation for Strategic Research. She has coordinated the FP7-EU IntegratedProject GRASP, and served as the PIs for the FP7-EU Integrated Project CogX and FP6-EUIntegrated Project PACO-PLUS. She has received the European Research Cuncil grant in2012 for project FLEXBOT: Flexible object manipulation based on statistical learningand topological representations. She currently coordinates FP7 IP TOMSY and isinvolved in several other FP7 projects: RoboHow.org, eSMCs, TOPOSYS and RECONFIG.
