Movings things and people is the foundation of the globalized economy. It is also a basis for our local communities of nation states and cities. So how will global macro trends such as increasing urbanisation, decreasing oil supply and an unstable world economy affect and challenge transportation and logistics in the 21th century. Seemingly futuristic means of transportation is already here in the forms of unmanned cars on the streets and drones in the air. But will it be possible to integrate these things for real into our complex infrastructure of roads, air travel, public transportation systems and global industrial supply chains.
